Westerland Burns!

Our first Narrative Event took place on November 30, 2025

Frydaal the Chainmaker has struck the Empire, her wolf‑ship fleets spilling Chaos warbands onto the northern shores. Refugees flood Marienburg as the city braces for the assault… yet hope arrives with the Jade Fleet, led by Miao Ying, the Storm Dragon, who seeks to forge a fragile alliance against the ruinous host.

As armies muster, opportunists stir in the shadows. Ambitious lords and marauders see the chaos as their chance to plunder and expand. The Old World teeters on the brink — can the rising tide of Chaos be stopped, or is it already too late?

Frydaal’s forces carve a bloody beachhead in Westerland, erecting monuments to the dark gods and drawing other warlords to her banner. The Empire reels, divided and distracted, as rival claimants weigh whether to defend their lands or exploit the crisis for their own gain.

The Jade Fleet anchors in Marienburg, preparing to meet Chaos head‑on. Beastmen warherds under the Prophet Kralmaw raid deep into the Drakwald, their true purpose still shrouded. Elven kinbands strike from forest and isle, harassing the invaders where they can. And in Bretonnia, an Orc Waaagh! devastates Couronne, forcing King Louen to rally his lords against the green tide before he can march north.

Round 1
Establish Supply Lines

From far off mountain holds and across the Empire marched armies of Men and Dwarfs to counter the encroaching spread of Chaos into Westerland. However Frydaal’s victories also attracted the attention of fell tribes and daemons who share a love of plunder and destruction. These forces marched into Westerland, bringing with them supplies and much needed reinforcements. In the first few engagements, the Forces of Order met the challenge of the Forces of Destruction on even ground. The outcome of these skirmishes left the Chaos forces battered, but victorious.

Round 2
Evacuate the Countryside

Chaos warbands swept inland, burning villages and cutting down all who fled. Refugees clogged the roads, desperate to escape, while Imperial levies and mercenaries tried to shield them. The defenders were crushed, their banners broken, and countless peasants slain.

A few knights and soldiers fought desperate rearguard actions, buying moments for survivors to scatter into forests and hills. But the countryside lies in ruin, monuments to the dark gods rising where homes once stood. Chaos now grips Westerland, and only scattered pockets of resistance remain.

Open the Vaults!

In desperation, the defenders of Westerland opened the ancient vaults beneath Marienburg. Hidden relics, enchanted arms, and long‑guarded treasures were brought forth, bolstering the weary soldiers with newfound strength. Reinforcements rallied to the city’s banners, determined to hold back the tide of ruin.

Yet even with these gifts, the storm could not be stemmed. Chaos pressed ever harder, Frydaal’s warbands sweeping aside the defenders’ renewed ranks. The treasures of the vaults bought time and courage, but not victory. As Round 3 began, Marienburg stood defiant but doomed, its walls soon to face the full fury of the siege.

Round 3
The Siege of Marienburg

Westerland stood on the brink of annihilation as Frydaal’s forces descended upon Marienburg. The defenders fought valiantly, rallying around key strong points and objectives, but the relentless tide of Chaos proved too great.

One by one, Westerland’s resources were burned, monuments to the dark gods rising where bastions of hope once stood. The defenders’ courage bought precious time, but their lines collapsed under the weight of the assault.

In the end, Marienburg was razed to the ground. The city’s walls crumbled, its streets drowned in fire and blood, and the jewel of Westerland fell into ruin. The forces of Destruction claimed a decisive victory, leaving the Empire fractured and its future uncertain.

The Tide of Chaos Spreads

With Marienburg reduced to ash, the wolves of the sea are unleashed. Frydaal’s victory has shattered the Empire’s western bulwark, opening the coasts of the Old World to further raids. Chaos fleets now sail southward, their wolf‑ships prowling beyond Westerland’s ruins, seeking new shores to despoil.

Southward Horizons

  • The Border Princes: Already fractured by petty wars, these lands now face the looming shadow of Chaos. Raiders see opportunity in its divided fortresses and scattered lords.

  • Khemri: Even the Land of the Dead may not be spared. Rumors whisper of Chaos fleets daring the southern seas, threatening to clash with the Tomb Kings in their own domain.

Daemon Mercenaries

The victory at Marienburg has emboldened Frydaal and her allies. Through dark rituals and pacts, they can now summon Daemon mercenaries to fight alongside mortal warriors. These infernal allies bring terrifying new strength to the Chaos host, blurring the line between flesh and nightmare.
